Study of Rainfall Variability in Semi Arid Region with Reference to Pali District, Rajasthan, India

The unique feature of the Indian monsoon is its irregularity and inconsistency. This feature of monsoon has different effects in different regions of the country. Rajasthan is located in the western part of India where arid and semi-arid and sometimes humid climatic conditions are found. Therefore, on the basis of these climatic features, anomalies arise in the monsoon of Rajasthan, which creates problems for the farmers. Due to which the condition of drought persists in this area. In this research paper, the analysis of rainfall variability of Pali district, located in the south-west part of Rajasthan, has been studied on the basis of data for the period of last 20 years (2003-2022). In this research paper, the mean, standard deviation and coefficient of standard deviation for the annual rainfall of the last 20 years in selected tehsils of Pali district have also been calculated. This result has been obtained from this calculation that during 20 years in Pali, maximum rainfall has occurred in Pali tehsil, followed by Sumerpur and Bali tehsils while the least rainfall has occurred in Raipur tehsil.
