Abstract

This study aims to determine the job satisfaction of Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals who work at the South and West Zone Indian Council of Social Science Research Centre in India. To measure job satisfaction, a structured questionnaire was developed and used to collect data from twenty LIS professionals. The study found that most professionals do not feel stressed while performing their duties and responsibilities. Furthermore, the study revealed that LIS professionals are highly satisfied with their job, but with varying degrees of satisfaction. The professionals reported the highest level of satisfaction in their relationships with clientele. However, they expressed dissatisfaction with certain promotions and policies of the ICSSR Institute. The results of the study can be used for planning, decision-making, professional manpower development, and improving library and information services.

    Deepika Kumari her bachelor's degree completed from Patna University, Blisc and Mlisc completed from Nalanda open University, Bihar. She's toppers in Blisc, she has qualified in UGC NET and also awarded ICSSR Doctoral research Fellowships. Now she's pursuing Ph.D in Library and Information Science at Mahatam Gandhi Central University, Motihari Bihar -845401.

  • Prof. Ranjeet Kumar Choudhary, Dean, H.O.D and Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari Bihar

    Prof. Ranjeet Kumar Choudhary has received Ph. D. degree in Library and Information Science, a gold medallist in Master of Library & Information Science and first class first rank holder in the Bachelor of Library & Information Science. He has more than 17th years of post-graduate teaching and 16th years of research experience. His contribution on 5 Ph D awarded, 16 M Phil awarded and 88 masters’ dissertation completed. He has performed as external examiners on more than 17 Central and State university in India. He has published more than 72 research papers in refereed international/national journals, book chapters, conference proceedings, more than 10 invited lectures and books. Presently, He is Dean, School of Computational Sciences, Information and Communication Technology, Head, Department of Library and Information Science and also In-charge University.
